There’s an old adage that no publicity is bad publicity. But if you’re a member of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church intent on spreading hate and not looking ridiculously outnumbered and out of touch, you might start to realize that publicity just helps people prepare to counter your protest
There’s not much that hasn’t already been said about the aftermath of the Orlando tragedy. Thank you Carrie Collins-Fadell for the article in NONPROFIT QUARTERLY about the outpouring of support for victims, families, the City of Orlando, and the entire LGBT Community.
I can’t think of a single Christian person I know would ever support or defend the actions of the radicals at Westboro Baptist Church. Are they truly free to disrupt grief, protest funerals, and spread hate? Where is the line? At what point has freedom gone too far? It’s frustrating that these fundamental fanatics do so much damage to the image and reputation of true Christians who refuse to hate, and genuinely strive to follow the teachings of love, peace, inclusiveness, and tolerance. How did they get so far off track? And hey. . . . .how do they still get to enjoy nonprofit status?
God bless all those who are working hard to spread a message of love. The angel wings perfectly symbolize my hope that love will eventually erase hate.
