The Importance of Video Content

In the digital age, there are countless ways to market your company online. Videos can be used to boost your business, recruit for an event, or promote your unique team. Your videos can be posted across various social media channels, such as Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Perhaps the biggest benefit of using video content is the effect it has on Search Engine Optimization. Videos are considered “high-quality content” by search engines, and can drastically increase website traffic (Digital Marketing Institute). Video marketing saw a surge in popularity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with surveys showing nearly 90% of marketers now use Facebook and/or YouTube as a video-sharing platform.

According to HubSpot, the recommended length of videos posted to social channels should be less than one minute; you want to get your message across before the viewer scrolls to the next post. Although it may seem a daunting task to tell your story in such a limited time frame, there are resources available to assist in this process.

Canva: Marketing Made Easy

Canva utilizes a drag-and-drop video editor tool, which is as simple as it sounds: import your clips into Canva’s media library, drag them into the editor, and drop them in the correct order. You can change the duration of your clips on the timeline, apply filters, and create transitions. Canva’s video editor does have some limitations, but if you are looking to create a basic marketing video on a budget, it can be a valuable resource.

Biteable: A Resource for New and Seasoned Editors

If you are looking to create a catchy, compelling video but do not have the time or expertise to start from scratch, consider using Biteable, a web-based video editing system. Biteable has many templates for different themes such as job ads, marketing campaigns, and infographics. These templates have text boxes with animations and transitions built-in; enter your text, upload background video clips or photos, and adjust the coloring and font as needed. Even if you are an experienced editor, using Biteable is worth considering, as their templates allow for quick video curation with professional designs.

Biteable in Practice

RESNET, a not-for-profit organization that provides home energy ratings and recommendations, is hosting its yearly conference in San Diego, CA this fall. They asked Nonprofit Resources to create a teaser video for their conference to be posted on social media. The video was created following these steps:

  1. Selecting a Biteable template for conferences.
  2. Changing the background to video clips of San Diego.
  3. Adjusting the text language, font, and color.

Once the video was complete, a link was shared with the client. They could comment directly on the webpage with their feedback. Once approved, the completed video was downloaded from Biteable and uploaded to RESNET’s social media channels!
